Awareness Generation Program
Health Awareness: MSS is sincere to ensure safer health of pregnant mother and children. For this purposes, an awareness generation cum medical camp was organized from 15-20 September, 2008 at Bihar Sharif in Nalanda district. In the camp, a good number of males, females and children were medically examined. The participants were appraised about the cause of different maternal and child health related diseases and their prevention. Polio vaccination of children was also administered to 72 children with help of the local PHC. In continuation, a 03 day training program for TBAs was also organized by MSS to make them informed and trained on contraceptive, delaying, spacing safe delivery, pre and post natal checkups, balance diets immunization safe abortion by the expert trainers of MSS. 30 TBAs were benefited by the program
Awareness to Adolescent Girls: In Bihar, there is lack of awareness among the adolescent boys and girls on reproductive health STD/HIV/AIDS. They need awareness to bring changes in their reproductive and sexual behaviour. With a view to this problem a two day awareness camp was organized at Bihar Sharif in Nalanda on 15-16.08.2009 to enhance the abilities of the young adults to make informed reproductive choices. Folk activities and small group meetings were used as a means to reach out the desired awareness among youths.
Legal Awareness: A legal awareness camp was organized by MSS from 3-5 September, 2009 at Biharsharif, Nalanda. Ms. Ishrat Jahan, Ward Counsellor, Nalanda was the Chief Guest on the occasion. She spoke on dowry deaths and gave examples of various cases. Ms. Shakuntla Sinha, advocate, Bihar sharif spoke on domestic violence and informed the participants on different Acts while Ms. Usha Sinha, Advocate focused on early marriage and dowry death related Acts. In her concluding speech, Ms. Sabiha Naaz, Secretary, MSS assured the women that whenever there was a need for assistance of any kind, the services of MSS would be readily available.
Awareness on NREGS: National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) is one of the most ambitious schemes launched by the Govt. of India in 2005. The Act guarantees 100 days employment for poor at a minimum fixed rate as well as also assures building of valuable village assets to increase the standard of living of the rural poor. The program been launched in all the 38 districts in Bihar in which 23 are centrally sponsored while 15 are state sponsored. But, despite all essential measures taken by the Government for its implementation, there is still a lot of confusion at the grass root level like- How will this scheme operate, what kind of work would be provided etc. are common confusions persisting among the beneficiaries. MSS in an effort to sort out these confusions organized an awareness camp from 12-15.02.2009 at Tungi Panchayat covering 05 villages of Bihar Sharif block in the process. Experienced resource persons of the area were invited to sort out the confusion of the participants regarding the Act. A total of 135 participants (Male-32 and Female-103) participated in the camp with great motivation and courage.
Awareness on Population Control: MSS is sincere to disseminate information among the minorities regarding population control measures. For this purposes, an awareness generation camp was organized all Bihar Sharif block participated by young married couples. During the camp, they were appraised about the ill effects of the increasing population and the adoptive measures to control it.
